This is the Privacy Policy for the LOVALLY. It is intended to inform you about how your personal data is used when you use our LOVALLY app (hereinafter ‘the App’). Please read the following carefully.

LOVALLY attaches particular importance to the protection of your personal data and respect for your privacy.

The purpose of this Privacy Policy (together with our Cookie Policy) is to inform you about how we process the personal data you provide to us or that we collect in connection with your use of the App and our services.

This Privacy Policy applies to all services offered by LOVALLY that you use (excluding services provided and operated by third parties, which are subject to those third parties’ own privacy policies, and not to these provisions).

The data collected when you use the App is processed by LOVALLY SA, a Belgian public limited company, registered in the Brussels Register of Legal Entities (Registre des Personnes Morales, RPM) under number 1029.842.763, with its registered office at BE-1000 Brussels, avenue de Vilvorde 100.

2. What data do we collect?

When you use the App or when you communicate with LOVALLY, we collect and process personal data about you.

This data may be provided directly by you or collected automatically by LOVALLY when you use the App.

Here is an overview of the personal data collected and processed by LOVALLY concerning you:

Data collected and processed in all cases:

  • Identification data: first name, gender, date of birth, age (by inference), place of residence (optional), one to six personal photographs;

  • Enhanced identification data (national registration number, surname, nationality, official ID number), processed temporarily for profile verification when you register on the App;

  • Depending on the registration method chosen: email address and/or Apple or Google ID (and any data associated with that ID);

  • Data relating to your activity on the App;

  • Search preferences: age group and gender of the people you wish to meet;

  • Technical data about your mobile device.

Data required for certain purposes:

  • Geographical location (subject to your explicit consent);

  • Geographical location relative to other users (subject to your explicit consent);

  • Traffic data (technical data relating to communications);

  • Text messages sent and received;

  • Data from reports and enquiries submitted to LOVALLY’s customer service;

  • Enhanced identification data (national registration number, surname, nationality, official ID number), used for profile verification in the event of suspicion or a report concerning identity theft or fictitious or incorrect information;

2.1. Data that you provide to us directly

By using our services, you provide us directly with data relating to your registration and your interactions with LOVALLY.

Some of this data is visible to other users and is therefore made public on the App. This information is marked below as “public”.

Other data, however, is not visible to other users on the App. This data is marked below as “private”. 

LOVALLY cannot under any circumstances be held liable for data that you yourself have disclosed and made public on the App.

2.1.1. Data relating to registration and your profile

Information required for registration

Certain data is mandatory to access our services. Without this, you will not be able to register on the App or create an account. The following are mandatory in all cases:

  • Your email address or Apple or Google ID (depending on the registration method chosen) (private);

  • Your first name (public);

  • Your date of birth (private);

  • Your age, calculated from your date of birth (public by default, but you can hide it);

  • Your gender (private);

  • Your place of residence (optional – public);

  • At least one and no more than six profile photos, including one in portrait format which must show your face. You can add or remove photos at any time, provided that at least one photo showing your face is retained (public);

  • Search preferences: age group and gender of the people you wish to meet (private).

Verification of your identity and age by Yoti

To verify your identity and age (which leads to the certification of your profile), we use the identity verification tool developed by Yoti Ltd. (“Yoti”), whose registered office is located at 6th Floor, 107 Leadenhall St., London, EC3A 4AF, United Kingdom.

When you register on the App, you will be asked to complete a verification process carried out directly on Yoti’s secure interface. The purpose of this process is to:

  • Verify your identity (surname, first name, date of birth, etc.);

  • Confirm that you are of the required age to use the services offered by the App;

  • Verify the portrait-format photograph that you must upload when registering on the App.

In this context, Yoti asks you to provide:

  • A valid official identity document (ID card, passport, driving licence, residence permit, etc.);

  • A photographic proof (selfie) allowing for biometric comparison with the document submitted and with the portrait-format photograph uploaded by you.

The identification data collected and processed in this way is handled directly by Yoti. LOVALLY only has temporary access to the full information and documents submitted to Yoti as part of this process, and solely for the purpose of creating your profile (retrieving your first name and date of birth, from which your age is then calculated).

You are invited to consult Yoti’s privacy policy (https://www.yoti.com/privacy/) for further information on the processing of your personal data.

Use of the App implies acceptance of this verification procedure, without which your registration is not possible.

2.1.2. Data relating to your interactions with LOVALLY

When you contact our customer service, report another user or exercise your rights regarding your personal data, LOVALLY may collect the following data:

Data relating to reports and requests made to our customer service

 This includes:

  • Date and time of the report or request;

  • Reason for the report or subject of the request;

  • Data relating to the user making the report, subject, however, to Articles 3 to 7 of Directive 2011/93/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 December 2011 on combating the sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children and child pornography;

  • Details of the user being reported;

  • Proof of identity (when exercising your rights).

This data is collected and processed when you submit a support request to our customer service team, exercise your rights regarding your personal data, or report another user. This information is necessary to process the report or to respond to your requests. This information is also processed when a report is made about you. Indeed, LOVALLY has a legal obligation to collect reports from its users bringing to its attention content or behaviour that may violate our Terms and Conditions of Use or our Code of Conduct.

2.2. Data we collect automatically

When you use our services, LOVALLY automatically processes information relating to your activity on the App.

2.2.1. Data relating to your activity

LOVALLY processes data necessary for the provision of its services. Without this data, certain features of the App could not be provided.

The data concerned includes, in particular:

  • The date of registration;

  • Login dates;

  • Your online or offline status;

  • Interactions with other users (sending Butterflies, Matches, etc.);

  • Push notifications you have received and your notification preferences.

2.2.2. Geolocation

The LOVALLY app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devside.loveapple & https://apps.apple.com/be/app/lovally-verified-dating-app/id6470462190) requires access to your mobile device’s geolocation data in order to provide its core functionality of connecting users. This data is used solely with your consent, for the purpose of enabling you to meet other users nearby.

Indeed, the main appeal of the App lies in the possibility of physically meeting other users. To this end, LOVALLY collects your geographical location, but only with your explicit consent, obtained via the authorisation mechanisms of your operating system (iOS or Android) or via the App.

Geolocation methods

The extent of the collection of your location data depends on the mode of use of the App that you choose:

  • Classic mode: geolocation is carried out according to the standard settings defined by your operating system, with limited frequency and accuracy;

  • IRL (“In Real Life”) mode: this optional mode, which can be enabled and disabled at any time via the App, allows for near-continuous geolocation (updated approximately every two minutes or every fifty metres of movement), including in the background, in order to facilitate spontaneous encounters with other users nearby. Activating the IRL mode requires your explicit and informed consent.

Connecting users

When two users are within the same geographical radius (according to the distance preferences they have specified) and their profiles are deemed compatible by the App, their respective profiles appear in their news feed.

Regardless of the mode used (standard or IRL), your exact location is never disclosed to other users. Only an indication of proximity, expressed as an approximate radius, is displayed to them. In IRL mode, the accuracy of this radius can be up to approximately ten (10) metres.

Storage of location data

LOVALLY does not retain your location data history. Only the most recent data, strictly necessary for the App’s functioning, is processed.

Managing your permissions

Your geolocation permissions are managed by your operating system (iOS or Android), which periodically reminds you of the permissions you have granted.

You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in your mobile device’s settings.

You can also enable or disable the IRL mode at any time via the App.

If you disable geolocation, your news feed will no longer be updated and you will no longer see new profiles nearby.

2.2.3. Text messages sent and received

Text messages you have sent or received via the App:

  • Are accessible only to the users concerned and are binding only on them;

  • Are not disclosed to third parties, except in response to a court order and/or in accordance with applicable laws or regulations;

  • May only be accessed by LOVALLY and its partners in accordance with applicable laws or regulations;

  • Are stored on Firebase servers, a platform developed by Google.

2.2.4. Search preferences

The App allows you to configure your search preferences, such as: 

  • The gender you are looking for;

  • The age group you are looking for;

  • The geographical distance from you (by default, this distance is set to a maximum of 200 kilometres). 

These preferences influence the profiles visible in your news feed.

You can change your search preferences at any time via the App.

Setting search criteria based on the gender you are looking for implies your prior consent to the processing of this data by LOVALLY.

2.2.5. Technical data from your mobile device

Technical data is processed by LOVALLY from and on the devices you use to access the App. This technical data provides us with information on:

  • The IP address;

  • The mobile device identifier;

  • The version of the App;

  • The model and operating system of the mobile device;

  • The language used;

  • Information about faults affecting the App.

2.3. Transaction data

LOVALLY does not collect or process any banking data.

Payments within the App (in-app purchases) are handled exclusively by:

  • The Apple App Store;

  • The Google Play Store.

These platforms do not share payment details with LOVALLY. Only certain technical data is exchanged, such as a transaction ID, to validate the purchase, but this technical data does not allow you to be identified.

LOVALLY therefore retains your purchase history, but does not retain any information relating to payment methods or any bank details.

These rights may be exercised subject to LOVALLY’s technical capabilities, particularly where certain data is transmitted to or synchronised with third-party services, such as Apple or Google. In such cases, the cooperation of these platforms may be required to process certain requests (in particular the rectification of certain data).

  1. How long do we retain your data?


LOVALLY has implemented a process for the automatic deletion of user accounts and personal data, in accordance with the retention periods set out below. Where certain data must be retained for statistical purposes beyond these periods, it is irreversibly anonymised, making identification impossible.

8.1. Retention during the period of use of the App

Personal data is retained for the entire duration of active use of the App, i.e. for the duration of the user’s registration.

We delete inactive accounts. An account is deemed inactive when, over a continuous period of twenty-four (24) months, the following two cumulative conditions are met:

  • The user’s App has not communicated with LOVALLY’s servers, in particular due to the deactivation of the account, the uninstallation of the App, the deactivation of geolocation services or the absence of a connection; and

  • The user has not used the App during the said period.

The user shall be notified in writing of the imminent deletion of their account with ten (10) days’ notice.

The user may, at any time during this notice period, reactivate their account, which will immediately suspend the deletion process. In this case, the entirety of the user’s profile content is retained.

At the end of the notice period and in the absence of any response from the user, the account is automatically and completely deleted.

8.2. Termination of a user’s account by LOVALLY

When a user is banned from the App, their account is deactivated and made invisible on the App. The relevant data is then deleted.

8.3. Deletion at the user’s request

When a user deletes their account themselves or requests its deletion from LOVALLY’s customer service, the account is immediately deactivated and made invisible on the App. The relevant data is then deleted.

8.4. Data security

LOVALLY undertakes to implement all reasonable technical and organisational measures to ensure an optimal level of security for the data collected, processed and stored. It is nevertheless the responsibility of each user to take the necessary measures to protect their own personal information (e.g. strong password, security of the device used, etc.).
